Anyone in need of a warm shelter can go to the Goshen Public Library during regular business hours (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Tuesday, 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.). Those needing a warm shelter outside of regular library hours can call the Goshen Police Department at 574.533.4151 for assistance. Link:

- For the most up to date assistance for local food pantries, utility and rent assistance, legal assistance, clothing help, shelters, medical assistance etc. When calling on M-F, you will talk with a person from Elkhart Co. The resource enter can provide assistance in many languages and has information for over 400 agencies and 1200 programs in Elkhart Co. If after the hours above, you will still get assistance but not from a local person.

Energy Assistance Program- Apply for state assistance through locally administered REAL Services for your heating bills. Avoid disconnect of heat during the winter months. The program runs from November-March, until the funds fun out. To qualify for the program you must have a social security card for everyone over the age of one in the home. The lease/mortgage must have the name of the person applying for the assistance. There ae income guidelines. Contact Real Services at 574-534-2564. Taking calls at the beginning of November.
- Elkhart Township Trustee-106 N. 5th St, Goshen (574)533-2066 Office hours Monday 9-4, Wednesday 9-12, Friday 9-4 Walk in for application. Takes 48-72 hours. Appointment is needed for a follow-up visit. Need Social Security Number, may help with food, rent, utility, disconnects up to $250. They will not help with utility deposits.

Can help with utilities when at “disconnect” status, once every 12 months. Can help with groceries once every 60 days-up to 4 times per year.

- Transitional Housing for the homeless: Provides services that address the issues leading to homelessness.
- GOAL: (Getting over angry lives) Classes for young people teaching skills to help manage anger in constructive ways.

Must have ID. Only one voucher will be given to each family every 6 months. Small clothing pantry available on Tue & Thu from 9-11am by appointment only.

Families can have 2 vouchers the first 6 months of the year and 2 vouchers the last 6 months of the year. The vouchers need to be a least a month apart.

- Medicaid assistance-Maple City Health Care Center 574-534-3300 Call for an appointment. They will help complete paperwork with families. Families will need to follow-up when receiving paperwork in the mail. Medicaid will assign a doctor to the family.
